Gaglio Vignaioli

Gaglio Vignaioli, between the enchanting hills of Tindari and the Tyrrhenian Sea, has always been attentive to the territory, to its distinctive characteristics and biodiversity. Here, a wine experience full of the typical features of the place awaits you: a family story, and that of the territory, which has seen the property engaged in the cultivation of vines and in the production of quality wine since 1910. We are in Oliveri in a newly built company complex designed by Flora Mondello and her mother Maria Teresa (both architects). The property is divided into two areas: the cellar where the grapes from which Gaglio Vignaioli’s wine are processed, and a wine shop with about fifty seats inside. The link with the territory to which it belongs, has given rise to a line of products devoted to its enhancement, ever since Don Tindaro (Flora’s great-grandfather) cultivated vineyards on the slopes of the Tindari and exported to France and Europe in the early 1900s.

Guided tours and tastings

At the Gaglio Vignaioli company it is possible to choose between four different wine tour itineraries.

We start with a tasting of a glass of your choice from the company’s wine proposals, paired with a platter of typical cheeses and cold cuts, all strictly organic and at zero km. The cost of the experience is 10 euros per person and lasts approximately one hour. To enhance the experience at Gaglio Vignaioli, Flora Mondello and her team also provide a basic tasting with tailor-made didactic moments (at a cost of 25 euros each); starting with a tour as before, which then moves on to the main visit of the cellar to understand the winemaking and bottling process live, ending with a tasting of four labels of great importance: Nero d’Avola doc Sicilia, Grillo Doc Sicilia, Flora Mamertino Doc and Esdra Mamertino Doc. The third ‘wine experience’ includes, in addition to the company tour and visit to the vineyards and cellar, a cooking Masterclass at a cost of 100 euros each (max 10 people), with a maximum duration of four hours. An ideal moment to learn the secrets of the Sicilian culinary tradition revealed by the cooks of the past, with a typical lunch that also includes three Doc Mamertino glasses of your choice plus a Malvasia delle Lipari. The fourth and last itinerary (60 euros per person) with the possibility of actively participating in the harvest of Gaglio Vignaioli (strictly carried out by hand) includes a food and wine tour with particular food-wine combinations.
